About
Hi, I'm Joy!
Thank you for visiting! I'm a final year law student, based in Brisbane, Australia, gearing up for a life as a commercial and corporate solicitor. I love reading other blogs and articles on different topics I find interesting so I thought to try and create one. I really hope you find this page somewhat interesting and thought provoking. There is also comment section and I'd absolutely love to hear your personal thoughts on the different topics!
Obiter takes its name from obiter dicta - the things a judge says in passing, which bind no one but often turn out to matter most. That is roughly the spirit of this blog: remarks made along the way, about law, justice, people and the systems that shape our everyday lives.
What you'll find here
Long-form essays on health law, privacy and technology, and justice and ethics, etc; shorter notes when something catches my attention; and the occasional question I don't yet know how to answer.
A small disclaimer
Everything here is personal opinion, written for thinking rather than advising. None of it is legal advice.
